Kathmandu waste collection to face disruptions during Dashain festival

Kathmandu Metropolitan City stated that waste disposal operations will experience interruptions at the final disposal location over a four-day period beginning on 1 Kartik. The local authority explained that sanitation personnel will be away celebrating the primary days of the Dashain festival, which leads to the temporary slowdown in services. Sarita Rai, who leads the environment management department for Kathmandu Metropolitan City, urged households, offices, and commercial establishments to sort their waste into organic and inorganic categories. Residents are asked to store these segregated materials properly during the affected dates before regular collection schedules resume. The municipality clarified that the disruption will last strictly from 1 Kartik to 4 Kartik, after which standard waste management routines will continue as normal. Authorities emphasized the importance of public cooperation in managing household and business waste during the festival holiday.
