Nepal establishes diplomatic relations with Senegal

Kathmandu reported that Nepal and Senegal have now established diplomatic relations, expanding Nepal's network to 188 nations. The development was announced by the foreign ministry following a joint press release. The signing took place in New York, where both foreign ministers met as part of the 81st United Nations General Assembly. The ministers, Shishir Khanal of Nepal and Sheikh Niyang of Senegal, affixed their signatures to the communiqué. Prior to the signing, the two ministers held a bilateral meeting to discuss a range of issues of mutual benefit. The foreign ministry noted that the dialogue covered several areas of shared interest. The establishment of ties is expected to facilitate cooperation in diplomatic, economic and cultural fields. Both sides expressed optimism about future collaboration.
