Repair operations are advancing rapidly along the Myagdi section of the Beni-Jomsom-Korala road, which forms part of the Kaligandaki corridor connecting northern and southern trade routes. Recent monsoon weather caused extensive damage, prompting intensive restoration efforts by project authorities, the Department of Roads, and construction firms working in parallel across multiple locations. Project chief Tejashwi Sharma stated that about twelve kilometres of the route between Kunauta in Raghuganga rural municipality-2 and Pokharebagar in Annapurna rural municipality are undergoing active restoration. Work on a twenty-five-kilometre stretch from Maldhunga through Beni Baisari to Kunauta concluded by Monday evening, according to the project office. Kaligandaki River floods eroded roughly two hundred and fifty metres of the roadway at Kunauta, creating a major obstacle for repair crews. Because carrying necessary fuel by foot above Kunauta proved impractical, a Nepal Army team utilized drones to transport supplies across the landslide zone. Six drone flights successfully delivered four hundred litres of diesel past the eroded section, facilitating continued machinery operations further up the route. Crews are also cutting new tracks at Pokharebagar and Ratopani, alongside ongoing clearance work at Mahabhir and Bhirkate. Project authorities aim to finish the repairs within the week to allow vehicles to travel along the corridor by next Monday. With border points in Rasuwa and Tatopani currently closed, the Korala route has become vital for commerce involving China.
