Families affected by the Bhote Koshi flood spent the festival period waiting for DNA testing reports to determine the status of missing relatives. Anlal Rokaya, a resident of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City-20 Thapuwa, stated that relatives have received no information regarding individuals missing since the flood occurred on 10 August. According to Pratit Singh Rathor, the information officer at the District Police Office in Banke, sixteen individuals provided DNA samples at Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj. These biological samples were subsequently sent to the central forensic laboratory of the Nepal Police for analysis. Relatives explained that they cannot perform customary social rituals without knowing whether their family members survived or perished. They intend to wait until the government officially declares the missing individuals either dead or permanently unaccounted for before proceeding with any rituals. Search efforts have extended to multiple regions following the disaster. Individuals searching for missing family members provided samples at medical facilities in Kathmandu and Chitwan, alongside the group tested in Nepalgunj.
