Congress invites Oli, Prachanda and Lamichhane to convention opening

The Nepali Congress has formally asked the heads of the country's main ruling and opposition parties to attend the opening of its 15th general convention. The ceremony is scheduled for 16 Asoj at Khulamanch in Kathmandu, according to OnlineKhabar, Ratopati, Reporters Nepal and Khabarhub. The invitees are CPN-UML chair KP Sharma Oli, Nepal Communist Party coordinator Prachanda and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) chair Rabi Lamichhane. Joint General Secretary Udayashamsher Rana said the three leaders were given their invitation letters on Friday. Ratopati reported that the team led by Rana visited each leader at his residence to deliver the letter, and Khabarhub said the meetings were held separately. Rana told Ratopati that the top leaders of major parties had been invited as part of the effort to bring heads and representatives of various political parties to the opening session. An office-bearer of the party said the Congress was also preparing to invite guests from neighbouring countries, OnlineKhabar and Reporters Nepal reported. Khabarhub said representatives of political parties, Congress leaders and cadres, well-wishers and the general public had been invited to the ceremony.
