Acceptable use policy

This policy sets out how you may use wenepal.com, the WeNepal app, our public API, feeds, newsletters and channels (together, "the service"). It forms part of the terms of use. In this page "WeNepal", "we" and "us" mean the publisher that operates the service. If you break this policy we may block your access, end your account, and take any action the law allows.

• Read, watch and listen to the service for your own use.
• Share links, and share our cards and videos unaltered with their credits and labels intact.
• Quote short extracts with a clear credit and a link to WeNepal.
• Use our RSS, Atom and JSON feeds in a reader, or in a service that shows headlines and links back to the story on WeNepal.
• Crawl the service for search indexing in line with robots.txt and our crawler page.

Misuse the service or its content

• Republish full stories, digests, videos, the Promise Tracker or Radar data, or make them available in bulk, without a written licence.
• Remove, hide or alter source credits, AI-assisted labels, correction notes, photo credits, music attributions or the WeNepal mark.
• Present WeNepal content as your own, or edit it in a way that changes its meaning.
• Use the WeNepal name or logo to suggest that we endorse or are connected with you.

Automated access and AI

• Scrape, crawl or download the service at a rate or in a way that burdens it, or ignore robots.txt, rate limits or the rules on our crawler page.
• Use our content, feeds or API to train, fine-tune or evaluate AI models, or to build a dataset, without a written licence. Retrieval that shows a short extract with a clear link back to the story is allowed where our robots.txt allows the crawler.
• Use our content to build or feed a competing news service.

Attack or abuse the service

• Probe, scan or test the security of the service without our written permission, or bypass any authentication, rate limit or access control.
• Send malware, overload the service, or interfere with other people's use of it.
• Request one-time codes for numbers or email addresses that are not yours, create accounts in bulk, or share or sell accounts.
• Abuse the contact, suggestion, newsletter or sign-in forms, for example with spam or automated submissions.

Break the law or harm others

• Use the service to break the law of Nepal or the law where you are, including the Electronic Transactions Act 2063 (2008).
• Post or send anything that breaks the community guidelines.
• Impersonate WeNepal, its staff or anyone else, including on social media or by email.

If you find a security vulnerability, tell us at legal@wenepal.com with "Security" in the subject line before telling anyone else, and give us reasonable time to fix it. Do not access, change or keep other people's data, and do not degrade the service. We will not take legal action against research carried out in good faith within these limits.

We may, without notice, block IP addresses or user agents, throttle requests, remove content, suspend or end accounts, and report unlawful activity to the authorities. Where your use causes us loss, we may seek compensation under the law of Nepal.
