Children's privacy
How WeNepal treats children's personal data as readers and as subjects of the news, the minimum age for an account, and how parents can ask us to delete data.

WeNepal is a general news service for adults. Anyone can read it without an account, but we do not design it for children, and we take particular care with children's data and with children who appear in the news. This page should be read with the privacy policy. In this page "WeNepal", "we" and "us" mean the publisher that operates the service. In line with the Act Relating to Children 2075 (2018) of Nepal, "child" here means anyone under 18.
Minimum age for an account
- You must be at least 13 to create a WeNepal account, subscribe to the newsletter or turn on notifications in the app.
- If you are between 13 and 18, please ask a parent or guardian before you create an account or subscribe.
- We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we delete it.
What we never do with children's data
- We do not build profiles of children or use their data for advertising.
- We do not show personalised advertising to anyone; ads on WeNepal are placed by page and section.
- We do not sell or share children's data with anyone except the service providers that run WeNepal for us under contract, as listed in the privacy policy.
- We do not ask children for more than the service needs: a sign-in phone number or email, and optional preferences.
Children in the news
Our editorial policy protects children who appear in stories:
- We do not identify children who are victims, witnesses or accused in crimes, survivors of sexual violence, or children in any situation where identification could harm them. This includes names, photos, schools, villages and other details that together could identify them.
- Stories involving minors always wait for an editor; they are never published automatically.
- We never generate images of real people, including children.
If you are a parent or guardian
If you believe your child under 13 has given us personal data, or you want us to delete your child's account or data, write to privacy@wenepal.com with "Child's data" in the subject line. Tell us the email address or phone number used. We may ask you to confirm that you are the parent or guardian. We act on verified requests within 7 days and confirm to you when the data has been deleted.
To ask us to remove or blur a child's identity in a story, write to corrections@wenepal.com. We treat these requests as urgent.
