Traders have brought Himalayan sheep and mountain goats from Dolpa to Pokhara in anticipation of the upcoming Dashain festival. The animals were transported from various locations within Jagadulla Rural Municipality. Businessman Buddhiram Bohara explained that he collaborated with two partners to purchase and transport the livestock to the city. The price for each animal has been set between Rs 21,000 and Rs 43,000. According to Buddhiram Bohara, 20 of the animals were already sold along the route before reaching their final destination. Bringing the livestock to Pokhara during Dashain is an annual tradition for traders from the Himalayan region. Another trader, Min Prasad Bohara, shared that they arrived in Pokhara before the Ghatasthapana ritual to ensure prompt sales. Reflecting on past experiences where delays disrupted their own holiday plans, he noted that arriving early allows them to complete their business and return home to celebrate the festival with their families.
