Krishnabhir landslide cleared, traffic back on Nagdhunga-Muglin road

Traffic has resumed on the Nagdhunga-Muglin road section after crews cleared the landslide debris at Krishnabhir, according to Ratopati English. Satendra Mishra, Information Officer of the Nagdhunga-Muglin Road Project (West Section), said vehicles could pass once the material was removed. The slide had come down on the road's retaining wall, and the gabion wall on the side has collapsed. Mishra said the road could still be used for now because 2 to 3 metres of ground remain between the main track and the collapsed section, and the surface shows no major cracks. He said “the main track is safe” but cautioned that further landslides, or a collapse of the road itself, remain possible if the rain continues. The project says heavy machinery has been deployed to clear slides at seven other points along the section. Work is under way at Panidhara, Dharapani, Jawang, Jalbire and Rorang, among other places, Mishra said. Rain in the area is making the task harder, and the project expects vehicle movement to become smooth only once every site has been fully cleared. Travellers have been urged to stay cautious while the risk of rain and landslides persists.
