In short

  • Floods in the Roshi River swept away two temporary BP Highway diversions in Kavre on Friday morning.
  • The damaged diversions were located at Chaukidanda in Namobuddha-6 and Ghumaune in Roshi Rural Municipality-7.
  • The District Traffic Police Office reported that floods and landslides have left the highway in a hazardous state.

Swollen waters from the Roshi River have swept away two temporary road diversions along the BP Highway in Kavre, causing fresh disruptions to vehicular movement. The affected structures were located at Chaukidanda in Namobuddha Municipality-6 and Ghumaune in Roshi Rural Municipality-7. According to Santosh Shrestha, the chief of the District Traffic Police Office in Kavre, the swollen river washed the diversions away on Friday morning. Shrestha stated that the highway has been disrupted since then, with ongoing floods and landslides leaving the roadway in a highly hazardous state. The highway section in Kavre had already suffered extensive damage during floods last year. Consequently, authorities had been relying on these temporary structures and diversions at multiple points to maintain the flow of traffic prior to the latest disruption.
