Home Minister Sudan Gurung will travel to New Delhi on 12 October to join the initial conference of interior and security ministers representing the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs. The gathering is scheduled for 13 October. Officials stated that representatives from seven participating nations will convene to discuss areas of mutual concern and strengthen cooperative security measures across the region. Prior to the ministerial session, senior home secretaries from the member countries will hold preparatory talks. The upcoming diplomatic engagement builds upon prior discussions conducted by national security advisers and senior officials. Regional security coordination has formed a key part of the organisation's agenda, with member governments seeking to bolster joint efforts addressing transnational crime and counterterrorism initiatives. The participating countries in the regional bloc include Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Thailand. According to the administration, the ongoing diplomatic efforts aim to deepen bilateral and multilateral security ties among the partner nations through continued dialogue between law enforcement and interior authorities.
