Chitwan National Park is preparing to restart jeep safaris before the Dashain festival, provided that road improvement works are finished by this coming Friday. Park information officer Abinash Thapamagar stated that the annual safari services were suspended with the onset of the monsoon season, starting from 17 June. Monsoon floods that occurred during the second week of September damaged tracks inside the jungle, which pushed back the reopening schedule. Maintenance efforts have involved clearing fallen trees, cutting away overgrown bushes, and repairing damaged internal routes to make them passable for visitors. Park authorities indicated that the resumption depends entirely on whether road restoration tasks can be completed in time for the weekend schedule. Jeep safaris are traditionally halted every year throughout the rainy season to prevent safety hazards and protect the natural terrain.
