Cricket association announces 3 million rupees prize for Asia Cup team

The Cricket Association of Nepal has declared a cash reward of NPR 3 million for the national men's cricket team after their successful qualification for the ACC Asia Cup. Chatur Bahadur Chand, the president of the association, unveiled the monetary prize during a media briefing held in Kathmandu on Sunday. He praised the squad for delivering stellar performances on the international stage despite facing constrained resources and modest compensation packages. Nepal secured a berth in the continental tournament for the second time in history by defeating the United Arab Emirates by 44 runs back in September. The association president noted that maintaining One Day International status for another four years alongside this tournament qualification marks a significant milestone for the sport within the country. He further urged the government to step forward and announce its own rewards to honour the players' dedication. During the gathering, which also focused on preparations for the third edition of the Nepal Premier League, Chand emphasised the broader economic impact of domestic cricket tournaments. He pointed out that the involvement of international participants, the implementation of modern technologies such as an electronic replay referral mechanism, and the expansion of financial activity have transformed the league into a prominent brand for the nation's sporting landscape, while operating through coordination among various bodies despite challenging circumstances.
