Nepali workers based in Qatar have appealed to the Nepal Rastra Bank to decrease remittance transfer charges and streamline procedures. The goal is to encourage citizens working abroad to utilise official channels when sending money home. These concerns were raised during an interaction programme centred on remittances, informal money transfers, and financial inclusion. The gathering took place in Doha on a Saturday and was jointly arranged by the embassy and the central bank. During the session, attendees highlighted the various obstacles and complications they encounter when attempting to channel funds through legal avenues. In response, a statement released by the embassy on Sunday noted that Deputy Governor Dirgha Bahadur Rawal indicated the central bank would take these recommendations into account to boost official remittance flows. Meanwhile, Ministry of Finance Joint Secretary Dev Raj Joshi emphasised the importance of connecting overseas employment and remittances to the wider economy, while detailing existing government policies designed to draw funds into the formal banking network.
