In short

  • The 220 kV transmission line resumed operation at 10:30 pm on Saturday.
  • A flood previously destroyed three towers in Annapurna Rural Municipality.
  • The repairs reconnected 176 MW of electricity from seven hydropower projects.

Operations have been restored on the 220 kV Dana-Khurkot transmission line, part of the Kaligandaki Corridor, after it suffered flood-related damage. The Nepal Electricity Authority's Gandaki Province Grid Branch stated that the power line became operational at 10:30 pm on Saturday. The previous flood damage had affected three transmission towers situated in Dowa and Dhirchang of Annapurna Rural Municipality in Myagdi. This disruption had disconnected 176 MW of electricity generated by seven different hydropower projects located across Myagdi and Mustang from the national grid. To restore the connection, more than 20 engineers, a comparable number of technicians, and over 50 workers from various authority offices and regional hydropower projects carried out repair work over a period of 15 days, utilizing a temporary tower built with Canadian technology.
