The Nepal Red Cross Society has sustained relief distributions for flood-impacted households in Chumanuwri Rural Municipality, situated in northern Gorkha, throughout the festive period. Recent flooding damaged residential settlements and obstructed travel routes, placing numerous local residents in precarious conditions across the remote Himalayan locality. Following severe floods along the Budhi Gandaki river, road and trail access to Chumanuwri was completely severed. In response to the total isolation of the community, essential relief materials had to be transported into the municipality by helicopter to reach stranded families who could not be accessed overland. Nepal Red Cross Society Chairperson Dr Bishal Kumar Bhandari confirmed that the organisation remains committed to assisting affected populations despite ongoing logistical challenges. Harsh terrain and demanding conditions have hampered transport, but the agency is maintaining coordination through emergency operations to distribute provisions matched to local needs across flood-hit districts.
