Beni-Darwang road reopens after one week

Vehicular movement has resumed on the Beni-Darwang road following a closure that lasted for one week due to dry landslides. The disruption began on 31 October at Faparkhet, situated along the boundary dividing Beni Municipality-4 and Mangala Rural Municipality-2. According to the Infrastructure Development Office in Myagdi, continuous falling debris had blocked the passage, causing difficulties for travellers returning to their hometowns and heading back to their workplaces during the festival period. To ease travel difficulties, the Infrastructure Development Office deployed excavation machinery to clear the blockage and reopen the route on a temporary basis. Raju Pandey, representing the contractor firm Mangala Construction, explained that efforts to accelerate the clearance work were hampered because the landslide activity did not stop immediately. He noted that although the route has been made passable to accommodate the high volume of travellers during the festival, permanent engineering solutions remain necessary. The official further stated that additional stabilisation work will be carried out once the festival activities conclude in order to establish a secure and dependable roadway. Spanning a total distance of 24 kilometres, the Beni-Darwang road corridor serves as a vital transport link connecting three western local administrative units—specifically Mangala, Malika, and Dhaulagiri rural municipalities—to the district headquarters in Beni.
