Shuklaphanta National Park authorities have deployed two elephants to drive a large striped feline away from human settlements in Kanchanpur district. The big cat was spotted near human habitats in the Imaliya area of Beldandi Rural Municipality-5. According to park ranger Bikram Chaudhary, wildlife officials launched the operation to push the animal back into the safety of the jungle after it repeatedly moved close to residential locations. Park officials stated that the tiger had been spotted in the locality over the past four to five days. In response to the continuous sightings, conservation staff installed monitoring cameras across the area to track the movement of the predator. After the animal was recorded on camera, park authorities decided to mobilize trained elephants from the Shuklaphanta post to drive the wild cat away from human settlements and adjacent sugarcane fields. The team is currently working to chase the tiger out of the sugarcane plots and nearby human areas towards the core forest. Park administration has appealed to the local community in Beldandi to stay alert and exercise heightened caution while traveling through the area until the wild animal is safely driven deep into the national park, ranger Bikram Chaudhary said.
