A collective of local youth in Khotang has launched an initiative to provide complimentary transport services to women during the Dashain and Tihar festive season. The effort, organised under the banner 'Dashain-Tihar, Cheli Lai Upahar Abhiyan-2083', is designed to assist women who encounter transport shortages or financial hardship when trying to travel to their maternal homes for the celebrations. The campaign coordinator explained that the initiative is split into two operational stages. The initial phase is scheduled to run from 3 Kartik to 6 Kartik to cover Dashain travel, while the subsequent stage will take place between 24 Kartik and 26 Kartik to facilitate journeys during Tihar. The volunteers aim to ensure that passengers reach their destinations safely and are assisted in returning home afterwards. So far, 35 young people have registered to volunteer for the transport initiative. Organisers noted that this drive builds on similar volunteer campaigns held in earlier years, during which 345 women received assistance in 2081 BS and 700 women were helped in 2082 BS, adjusting support according to travel needs.
