Madhes Province releases first public finance management report

The Madhes Province government has made public its inaugural public finance management assessment report during an event in Janakpurdham. This document represents the first comprehensive evaluation of the province's financial systems, aiming to identify key areas that require immediate reform. Chief Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav remarked that the assessment provides a clear, evidence-based, and objective depiction of the current state of public finance management. He added that the findings highlight significant achievements while pointing out specific areas that need future improvements. During the evaluation, 32 performance indicators and 98 dimensions were assessed. Based on these metrics, the province achieved an overall score of D plus. The report had previously met the necessary quality standards, receiving official confirmation on 13 November 2025. Officials stated that the diagnostic phase of the study is now complete. The next steps involve translating these findings into concrete actions to strengthen institutional capacity, enhance budget implementation, and improve public procurement processes for citizens.
