In short

  • Nepal Foreign Employment Association held a press conference in Kathmandu on Monday.
  • The Foreign Workers Centralised Management System listed 25 primary and 250 auxiliary agencies.
  • President Khatri warned that a monopoly in Malaysia could spread to other labour destinations.

Nepal Foreign Employment Association has formally approached the government to block attempts to restrict worker migration to Malaysia through a select group of agencies. Speaking at a press briefing in Kathmandu on Monday, the organisation highlighted that the Foreign Workers Centralised Management System has registered only 25 primary entities and 250 auxiliary agencies from Nepal. This selective listing has triggered serious questions regarding transparency, selection criteria and overall fairness. Association President Khatri stated that such practices undermine fair competition and called for immediate government intervention to protect worker interests and maintain a transparent, dignified employment sector. Furthermore, the leadership cautioned that allowing a monopoly to take root in the Malaysian labour market could set a dangerous precedent, potentially paving the way for similar restricted arrangements in other prominent international employment destinations for Nepali citizens.
