Experimental farming of cardamom in Musung village, located inside Beni Municipality-3 in Myagdi, has yielded positive results. Municipal representatives confirmed that the favorable outcome of the initial trial has encouraged local residents to expand their planting efforts on a commercial scale. The successful development of these crops in forested sections of Charkhola served as the primary trigger for broader participation among local agricultural workers. To facilitate the agricultural expansion, community members cleared wild vegetation from previously unused spaces and marshy ground. Cardamom crops now cover an area exceeding 20 ropanis in the municipality. Local authorities noted that around 50 years ago, a severe landslide damaged agricultural land in the region, leaving the site uncultivated for decades until these recent farming efforts commenced. According to Akriti Dhungana, an officer specializing in agriculture at Beni Municipality, three main varieties of cardamom are cultivated nationwide: Ramshahi, Golshahi, and Dammar Shahi. Ward chairperson Padam Pun stated that the pilot project initially started three years ago. The ongoing commercial transition aims to utilise previously unproductive land while expanding local agricultural output.
