Pakistan experienced a notable increase in outbound trade during September, with exports rising by 17.6 percent compared to the same period in the previous year. According to preliminary trade data released by the Statistics Department in Islamabad, the total value of exports for the month reached 2.94 billion US dollars. This export growth was accompanied by a rise in inbound trade. Imports into Pakistan grew by 11.1 percent in September, climbing to a total value of 6.49 billion dollars. The concurrent rise in both trade flows has contributed to a widening trade gap for the South Asian nation. Looking at the broader picture for the fiscal year 2026/27, total exports for the first three months reached 8.42 billion dollars, representing a 10.8 percent increase. Despite this growth, the cumulative trade deficit for these three months expanded by 15.1 percent, reaching 10.79 billion dollars.
