The 46th edition of the Nepal Bhasa Literature Conference and Cultural Programme has commenced in Bhaktapur with widespread community involvement. This year's gathering is being conducted at Gomari, located within Ward Number 7 of Bhaktapur Municipality. The event runs under a core slogan expressing that language survives if the people survive. Organisers host the annual conference in different wards and neighborhoods throughout Bhaktapur to encourage public access and cultural engagement across various local venues. This literary conference has operated continuously since its inception in Nepal Samvat 1100, which corresponds to the year 2037 in the Bikram Sambat calendar. Over its history spanning more than four decades, the initiative has worked toward protecting and promoting Nepal Bhasa, literature, art, culture, and heritage. Beyond serving as a platform for regional heritage preservation, the event aims to build social and cultural awareness through regular literary activities and community involvement. Organising committee chairman Ukesh Kawan provided details regarding the scope and participants of the current edition. He noted that the conference draws writers, artists, cultural workers, youth, teachers, students, and local residents. The platform encourages younger generations to create original works, write in Nepal Bhasa, and present their artistic talents publicly. In addition to Nepal Bhasa literature, the conference schedule features literary and cultural performances in various other languages.
