Travelers using major routes during festive periods face health risks as inspections show widespread hygiene issues. According to the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control, establishments situated along the Prithvi Highway predominantly serve food of substandard quality. Official checks focused specifically on sections running through Dhading and Chitwan, uncovering that numerous roadside eateries fall short of required safety benchmarks. During the monitoring operation, authorities evaluated a total of twenty-six hotels and restaurants. Results indicated that none of the checked businesses managed to secure the top classifications of Excellent or Very Good. Furthermore, laboratory tests identified that thirteen percent of collected food samples failed to meet baseline criteria. Following the findings, the department issued formal warnings to all operators conducting business along the highway corridor. Businesses were instructed to adhere strictly to established food hygiene protocols and to avoid any actions that might endanger the well-being of passengers traveling through the area.
