In short

  • Kutichaur locals in Tulsipur-19 are actively working to save the fading Paiseru dance.
  • A community group was established seven years ago to revive the disappearing cultural tradition.
  • Younger residents have joined the campaign to ensure ancestral dance practices continue.

Residents of Kutichaur in Tulsipur Sub-metropolitan City ward no. 19 have actively mobilized to protect the traditional Paiseru dance from dying out. Local community members noted that without music and traditional performances, major festivals like Dashain and Tihar lose their festive atmosphere and feel incomplete. Without these cultural practices, the entire village feels quiet and deserted. To counter the disappearance of this local tradition, community members launched a dedicated preservation campaign by forming a formal group seven years ago. Sorathi dance guru Krishna Bahadur Malla explained that the initiative aims to safeguard local heritage. The effort has successfully attracted younger participants who recognize the importance of keeping ancestral traditions alive for future generations. Local youth Sevak Malla stated that because the older generation previously performed the dance, younger residents now feel a strong responsibility to preserve it. Currently, whenever there is a festival, fair, or community celebration in Kutichaur and nearby areas, a Paiseru dance troupe is readily prepared to perform. The ongoing campaign reflects a strong grassroots commitment to keeping indigenous cultural practices vibrant across the region. By ensuring that younger community members take an active role in learning and performing the traditional steps, residents hope to maintain their distinct cultural identity through every upcoming holiday and seasonal gathering.
