Festivities for the ninth day of Bada Dashain took place nationwide, bringing followers together for special prayers and offerings dedicated to Goddess Durga Bhawani. This annual occasion falls on the ninth day of the waxing moon within the lunar month of Asoj. Households and shrines hosted extensive religious rituals, while sacred scriptures such as the Durga Saptasati and Devi Stotra were recited by the faithful. Traditional animal sacrifices formed a central part of the ceremonies for communities that uphold the practice, echoing mythological accounts from the Markandeya Purana regarding the defeat of the demon Raktabij by Goddess Chamunda. In addition to these rites, members of the Newar community dedicated specific worship to the Hindu deity Bhimsen on this day, incorporating animal sacrifices among followers of the custom. Official ceremonies included the performance of Kot Puja at the Taleju Temple located within Hanumandhoka, alongside traditional military parades and offerings of he-goats and ducks. Goddess Tulaja Bhawani also received ceremonial worship during the day's events, which concluded the active period of ritual sacrifices ahead of the tenth day of the festival.
