Authorites in Malaysia have put a stop to the hiring of unskilled workers from Nepal amidst a diplomatic dispute. The disagreement centres on the designation of specific recruitment agencies, which has created friction between the two nations. The Ministry of Youth, Labour and Employment in Nepal strongly opposed the unilateral choice of twenty-five agencies, declining to provide them with the necessary legal authorisation to operate exclusively. Furthermore, ten supporting agencies were designated for each of the primary entities. While diplomatic efforts continue to resolve the impasse, the Department of Foreign Employment has launched legal measures against the owners of the targeted agencies. Officials conducted inspections at several offices, warning of potential legal consequences under the Foreign Employment Act, 2007, for those failing to comply with official notices.
