In short

  • The 132 kV Keraun Substation in Morang officially began operations on Sunday.
  • The facility connects to the Duhabi-Damak line using a loop-in, loop-out arrangement.
  • Power will feed through two 33 kV lines to Rangeli and Biratchok plus five 11 kV feeder lines.

A newly built 132 kV substation has officially entered service at Keraun in Kanepokhari Rural Municipality-2, Morang. The Nepal Electricity Authority brought the facility online on Sunday by linking it to the existing Duhabi-Damak 132 kV transmission line through a loop-in, loop-out system. The initiative aims to enhance the safety, quality and reliability of electrical power provided across the northern and southeastern areas of the district. Nepal Electricity Authority Executive Director Dirghayu Kumar Shrestha explained that the new infrastructure will address rising electricity demand across Morang and neighboring regions. He noted that the facility strengthens the broader distribution network, ensuring a more dependable supply for consumers. The upgraded system is designed to improve voltage levels and reduce operational disruptions throughout the local power grid. To facilitate broad distribution, two 33 kV feeder lines were established to channel power toward Rangeli and Biratchok. Additionally, five 11 kV feeder lines have been set up to handle energy delivery to nearby communities. Once full operations are underway, the installation is projected to secure stable and consistent power for residents in Kanepokhari, Rangeli, Biratchok, Letang and surrounding localities.
