Nepal and Serbia sign MoU on bilateral consultation mechanism

Nepal and Serbia signed a memorandum of understanding in New York on Friday to establish a Bilateral Consultation Mechanism between the two countries. Minister for Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal signed for Nepal and Marko Djuric, Serbia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, signed for Serbia. The ceremony was held alongside the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, which is currently meeting in New York. Both ministers welcomed the signing and talked through several aspects of the relationship between their countries, including the need for global solidarity on climate action, The Rising Nepal reported. Khanal's secretariat said the new mechanism gives Nepal and Serbia a formal framework for holding regular consultations on issues that concern both sides, and is expected to strengthen ties and open new areas of cooperation. Separately, Nepal and Rwanda signed a General Cooperation Agreement on Friday. Khanal and Olivier Jean Patrick Nduhungirehe, Rwanda's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, signed it at an event in New York that was also arranged around the 81st General Assembly session. The secretariat said the agreement will strengthen relations with Rwanda and lay a basis for wider cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
