Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) leader KP Sharma Oli stated that society is troubled by the rise of counterfeit figures. Speaking in Kathmandu at a publication launch event organized by a memorial foundation, he remarked that deities stopped being born after receiving a curse from Parvati. According to reports, he mentioned that numbers grew extensively over subsequent periods. The party leader touched upon cultural habits, pointing out a tendency among people to immediately bow at the feet of ascetics arriving from the southern region. He contrasted this with a lack of sufficient regard given to scholars within the country. Furthermore, he noted that people might cite foreign texts in their writings rather than referencing works authored by domestic writers. Discussing philosophical traditions, Oli mentioned that yamas and niyamas within ashtanga yoga instruct followers to abstain from violence, speak truthfully, avoid falsehoods, walk a peaceful path, and refrain from coveting the property of others. He added that yoga philosophy does not intertwine with theism within samkhya and shaiva traditions, touching upon historical timelines and numbers during his remarks.
