The Speaker of the House of Representatives stated that a nation cannot be robust unless its private sector thrives. Addressing tourism stakeholders, he remarked that Nepal holds immense potential within the global tourism market and must strengthen its presence accordingly. He added that laws affecting the tourism industry should be open to revision and amendment as needed, stressing that no legislation should be drafted without informing and consulting the parties directly involved. During the meeting, the Speaker highlighted that the government places special emphasis on advancing tourism across various areas, specifically naming Pokhara, Chitwan, and Bardiya. He noted that national prosperity requires collaboration with private enterprises and robust employment generation within the sector. The gathering provided an opportunity for industry representatives to present their concerns directly to the parliamentary leader regarding regional development and visitor infrastructure. Pokhara Tourism Council President Hari Bhujel handed over a ten-point memorandum addressing sustainable tourism development to Speaker Aryal. The submitted document requested sustained and effective continuation of the recently launched Dubai-Pokhara-Dubai flights operating out of Pokhara International Airport. Furthermore, the petition asked the Speaker to initiate steps enabling the national flag carrier, Nepal Airlines, to conduct international flights from Pokhara. After receiving the memorandum, Speaker Aryal committed to discussing the raised points with the ministers heading the relevant ministries. He assured the delegation that he would provide necessary support and coordination to address the legitimate demands put forward by the tourism entrepreneurs. The dialogue underscored the ongoing cooperation between legislative leadership and regional business associations aiming to enhance connectivity and economic activity.
