In short

  • Four suspension bridges will be reconstructed under the Tanahun Hydropower Project.
  • Tanahun Hydropower Limited signed the contract with Thani Kali Joshi Joint Venture.
  • Project Chief Shyamji Bhandari noted that locations were chosen with local residents.

Four suspension bridges that face impacts from the reservoir of the 140-megawatt Tanahun Hydropower Project currently under construction in Tanahun district are scheduled for reconstruction. Tanahun Hydropower Limited has formalised an agreement with the Thani Kali Joshi Joint Venture based in Kathmandu to undertake the rehabilitation and rebuilding work for these crossings. Project Chief Shyamji Bhandari explained that the four structures will be established at appropriate locations chosen after direct consultations with local residents. This infrastructure work forms part of the required measures to manage the local impacts brought about by the reservoir creation for the 140-megawatt energy development initiative. The initiative addresses the mobility challenges that communities would otherwise encounter as water levels rise behind the newly built dam structure. Detailed planning involving residents ensures that the replacement crossings are placed where they will best serve daily travel needs across the affected localities.
