A historic cultural practice involving a living Kumari has returned to Madhyapur Thimi in Bhaktapur after an interruption lasting approximately sixty to sixty-two years. Local community members and cultural preservation advocates joined forces to restore the tradition of worshipping and receiving blessings from the deity. Cultural preservationist and Pama Nayake Shyamakaji Pama Shrestha stated that the town previously hosted the living Kumari tradition until financial difficulties forced its suspension over six decades ago. Suresh Bajracharya, the father of the newly appointed Kumari, carried the deity to her residence to mark the revival of the custom. Organisers and community representatives emphasized that the restored practice holds significant religious, social, and historical value for the area, with local stakeholders expressing commitment to maintaining the tradition moving forward.
