Rain blocks 11 highways across Nepal, Department of Roads says

Rain that has continued since 24 September has set off floods and landslides, and 11 highways, plus other road sections, are blocked as a result, according to a notice the Department of Roads issued on the morning of 26 September 2026. Republica and Khabarhub English both reported the notice. The Prithvi Highway is obstructed at Krishnabhir, Chaukibhir, Jawangkhola and Fisling, and vehicles travelling to Kathmandu from other parts of the country have been affected as a result. On the BP Highway, the blocked points are Mamti, Piple, Daunne-Kalopul, Charsayabesi, Katunje and Chaukidanda, the department said. In stretches the department considers high-risk because of the continuing rain, traffic has been stopped both by day and by night. Crews are working at various locations to remove landslide debris. The Kanti Highway is partly affected at Chapali and Takurche, although traffic through its Makwanpur section has resumed after debris was removed. The department also lists the Okhaldhunga-Salleri stretch of the Siddhicharan Highway and the area near Solukhola as blocked, along with the Nisi Rural Municipality-Kanabagar stretch of the Mid-Hill Highway. The Belbagar section of the Kaligandaki Corridor in Jaimini Municipality-8 is obstructed, and the Baglung-Beni Highway is disrupted at Myadi and Hulake. The Tamor Corridor is obstructed at Chharuwakhola, Nawakhola and Ranigaun. On the Rapti Highway the blockage is in the Kapurkot-Kharkhola section, and the Karnali Highway is affected at Gagnekhola, Raka and near Hare. The Bhaluwang-Chakchake-Liwang road is also cut at several points, according to the notice.
