In short

  • Dashain travellers are returning to the Kathmandu Valley in large numbers.
  • Major entry points experience heavy congestion and slower traffic movement.
  • Traffic police have stepped up monitoring along key routes to ease delays.

Individuals who previously departed the Kathmandu Valley to observe Dashain with their loved ones are currently journeying back, triggering heavier vehicle movement at the main entry corridors. According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, congestion has intensified along critical transportation links, notably the Nagdhunga and Kalanki stretch, the Jadibuti and Koteshwor route, Jagati in Bhaktapur, and the Dakshinkali and Pharping pathway, as larger numbers of automobiles and commuters arrive. In response to the rising volume of travellers coming back after the holiday period, traffic authorities have stepped up road surveillance and operational management. These heightened efforts are designed to facilitate orderly transit, alleviate bottlenecks, and decrease potential hazards on the highways. The steady influx of vehicles at the perimeter check points continues to demand active oversight from law enforcement personnel stationed across the affected roadway segments, working to keep transit lines moving steadily.
