Digital platform crimes have experienced a continuous upward trajectory, representing a category of unlawful behaviour that was practically unknown ten years ago. Information compiled from governmental bodies highlights that Facebook along with Messenger records the largest share of offences carried out through platform misuse. The data points to a persistent expansion in platform-linked infractions over several years, moving from earlier recorded figures of 4,114 cases in 2021, 5,492 cases in 2022, and 6,069 cases in 2023, up to a total of 14,603 cases by 2025. Reports indicate that there is a contradictory yet corresponding relationship driving this continuous rise in digital platform offences. Analysts observing data mined from public offices note that platform-related unlawful acts were completely unheard of just a decade ago.
