Nepali Congress has cancelled its traditional Kojagrat Purnima tea reception this year. According to the party, the decision was reached because the country is currently in mourning following natural disasters. Acting Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Dulal issued a statement confirming that the event would not take place during this period of grief. The tea reception tradition was first introduced by BP Koirala during the Kojagrat Purnima festival in the year 034. Since that time, the political organisation has consistently hosted the annual gathering every year until the current decision to call it off. The cancellation notice was formally communicated through a release issued on 1 Kartik by Acting Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Dulal. Officials noted that holding celebratory gatherings was inappropriate while the nation deals with the impact of recent calamities.
