In short

  • Dhakeshwar Ghimire started village-level coffee planting with companions in 2047 BS.
  • Shanti Devi Ghimire launched the coffee enterprise by roasting beans in 2046 BS.
  • Proposals for a joint board covering tea and coffee emerged from policy discussions.

Agricultural production requires proper processing methods, quality maintenance, and distribution to consumers as a core component of the sector. Cultivating coffee provides farmers with additional income opportunities, yet industry participants must navigate challenges such as plant diseases, pests, changing weather patterns, labour costs, and fluctuations in market pricing. Dhakeshwar Ghimire began planting coffee around the village alongside four or five companions in 2047 BS, encouraging neighbours in the surrounding area to adopt the crop. As visitor numbers grew and investment increased, the initiative transformed into a systematic income source where visitors could taste the product. Shanti Devi Ghimire roasted coffee in a pan to launch an industrial enterprise on 27 Mangsir 2046 BS after visitors requested an opportunity to sample the beverage. Discussions subsequently focused on formulating policies to expand production and benefit farmers, leading to the proposal for a unified board governing both tea and coffee.
