In short

  • Displaced families in Myagdi are moving into vacant houses instead of staying in temporary shelters.
  • Temporary shelter facilities in Ghar and Sirubari have closed their operations recently.
  • Local officials report that affected households are arranging their own accommodation and water.

Families displaced by landslides in parts of Myagdi have begun moving into vacant houses belonging to relatives and others, noting that temporary shelters are not a long-term solution. Residents spent a limited period in communal shelter facilities before deciding to find alternative private spaces after family discussions. Temporary camps set up in local wards have wound down operations. For instance, the facility used by displaced individuals from Paudwar closed at the beginning of the month. Similarly, the shelter accommodating thirty displaced households from Mahabhir has also emptied out as people seek out empty dwellings independently. Local representatives stated that displaced families are actively attempting to organise their own living arrangements and secure drinking water supplies. Many houses in the affected settlements sustained serious cracks during the disasters, rendering them unsafe for habitation even though the structures themselves remained standing.
