NEA Prepares Measures to Maintain Power Supply During Dashain Festival

The Nepal Electricity Authority has instructed all distribution centres across the country to keep high operational readiness to ensure reliable, continuous, and high-quality power supply throughout the Dashain festival. Senior leadership called on regional offices to establish operational plans that will prevent supply disruptions during the multi-day celebrations, when household consumption patterns shift across various provinces. The executive director and the head of the distribution and customer services directorate held a virtual meeting on Friday with the leaders of provincial distribution divisions and local distribution centres. During the session, management instructed local operational leaders to complete all operational arrangements and mobilise technical teams to safeguard against any unexpected line disruptions during the primary festival period. To manage public issues swiftly, local distribution centres were ordered to improve the responsiveness of their 'No Light' emergency call handling services. Dedicated technical teams and relevant offices have been set up to handle incoming customer complaints immediately, ensuring prompt repair work across municipal grids whenever localized technical issues occur over the holidays. The power authority noted that industrial and commercial activities generally decline during Dashain, altering nationwide demand dynamics. Despite lower industrial demand, officials emphasized that maintaining reliable residential supply requires full coordination among technical crews, distribution centers, and administrative departments throughout the festival season.
