Following the 15th general convention of the Nepali Congress held in Kathmandu, newly elected president Gagan Thapa is scheduled to take the oath of office. According to reports, the swearing-in ceremony will take place on Saturday afternoon at 2 pm at the party office in Sanepa, as announced by the party's publicity committee. Thapa secured the presidency by defeating Shyamkrishna Khadgi with a wide margin. Electoral figures show that Thapa received 6,584 votes, while Khadgi gathered 375 votes. Following Thapa's oath, the distribution of certificates and the swearing-in for other office bearers and central committee members has been scheduled to take place after Dashain. The 15th general convention, which took place in Kathmandu, elected a 231-member new working committee under the leadership of Thapa for a four-year tenure. Addressing a gathering in Kathmandu, Thapa noted that while some individuals he hoped would be part of his team were not elected, such outcomes should be taken naturally. During an address at a program organized by the Nepal Pesakharmi Abhiyan Parishad in Kathmandu, Thapa declared that he would distance himself from regular administrative tasks. He emphasized the need to alter the working style of the organization and the manner in which party structures are built.
