Nepali Congress spokesperson Dev Raj Chalise has officially withdrawn his nomination for the post of open Vice President at the party's ongoing general convention. According to Raju Katuwal, the member secretary of the Nepali Congress Central Election Committee, Chalise withdrew his candidacy on Wednesday afternoon. Speaking to media representatives at the general convention venue in Khula Manch, Kathmandu, Chalise explained that he decided to step back from the race following a direct request from party President Gagan Thapa. Chalise had registered his nomination for the open Vice President position on Tuesday. This development follows another high-profile withdrawal from the party's internal elections. Earlier, presidential candidate Kishor Singh Rathour also withdrew his candidacy from the race, according to election committee officials.
