Nepali Congress has decided to cancel its traditional tea reception normally organised on the day of Kojagrat Purnima. The decision came amid nationwide mourning over the immense damage to lives and property triggered by recent floods and landslides in various parts of the country. According to an official notice issued by the party, hosting the celebratory event was deemed inappropriate while the nation is in grief. Severe natural disasters have caused numerous casualties, left many individuals missing, and inflicted widespread destruction across several regions, including reports of fatal flooding in Bhotekoshi. The tea gathering was initiated with the objective of promoting mutual goodwill, harmony, and exchanging festive greetings. Except for certain specific years, Nepali Congress has been organising this traditional reception on the same date consistently since 2034 BS.
