A destructive fire erupted on Wednesday night in Paswan Tole, Badgama, obliterating the residences of 14 families. Another separate blaze occurred on Wednesday evening in Mainakaderi, located in ward 2 of Tirhut Rural Municipality. This incident consumed the homes and personal belongings of four households, specifically those belonging to Bhagwat Mandal, Yogendra Mandal, Bechu Khang and Sanichar Khang. In the aftermath of the disaster, the fire-affected residents in Badgama received essential supplies such as lentils, rice, tarpaulins, cooking utensils and flour. These provisions were distributed by federal lawmaker Khagendra Karn, alongside Kanchanrup Municipality and the District Administration Office in Saptari, which helped ease immediate shortages for the displaced individuals during the festive period. With families currently facing the festival period without permanent shelter, residents express deep concern over securing permanent housing before the winter season arrives. The pressing question for those left homeless remains how to transition from temporary relief assistance into rebuilding permanent roofs over their heads as colder weather approaches the district.
