In short

  • The Taleju Bhawani temple opened to the public for its annual one-day access.
  • Visitors queued from early morning to offer prayers inside the shrine.
  • Arrangements allowed worship from five in the morning until six in the evening.

Devotees formed queues from early morning to visit the Taleju Bhawani temple, which opens to the general public for only one day each year. Jayanti Shrestha Pradhan, the head of the office responsible for maintaining the Hanuman Dhoka palace, stated that arrangements for worship and viewing were put in place from five in the morning until six in the evening. Located within the Hanuman Dhoka palace complex, a recognized world heritage site, the shrine welcomed visitors starting on Tuesday. The historic landmark remains closed to the public on all other days of the year, drawing large crowds of worshippers when it finally opens its gates for the annual observance. Worshippers gathered in large numbers to participate in the rare ritual event, waiting patiently outside the sacred grounds. Officials at the caretaking office ensured that all necessary arrangements were maintained throughout the day to accommodate the steady stream of visitors arriving at the heritage site. The annual opening remains a significant cultural occasion for followers who wait throughout the year for the opportunity to enter the inner sanctum. Security and visitor management protocols were observed across the palace premises as devotees completed their religious observations within the designated time frame.
