An administrative team has distributed citizenship certificates directly to residents in the remote areas of Chitwan district, often referred to locally as the Karnali of Chitwan. Many local residents, particularly in wards 12 and 13, had faced significant challenges in obtaining these documents due to the difficulties of travelling to the district headquarters, understanding the paperwork, and finding where to take photographs. Bhimsen Karki, the chief of the District Election Office in Chitwan, stated that voter identity cards were also prepared for all the residents who received their citizenship certificates in ward 13. In addition, the team completed the voter registration process for four individuals who already possessed citizenship certificates but had not yet been registered because they were unable to visit the district administration and election offices. Local representatives highlighted that a notable number of senior citizens over the age of 70 in the area had remained without citizenship certificates. To address this, local officials coordinated with the District Administration Office to bring the mobile distribution team directly to the villages, allowing residents to complete the necessary paperwork and receive their identity documents locally.
