In short

  • Floods and landslides have brought traffic to a complete halt on several major highways.
  • A landslide blocked a 15-metre road section at Pinthali along the BP Highway.
  • A flood washed away about 20 metres of the Jomsom-Korala road section at Chaile.

Continuous downpours have triggered severe disruptions across major transportation corridors, halting vehicles on multiple critical highways. The Department of Roads stated that floods and landslides are responsible for the complete closure of several road sections, severely impacting travel and transit across the affected regions. Among the impacted routes, the BP Highway is completely obstructed at Pinthali, where a mudslide covered a stretch of approximately 15 metres. In addition, severe damage has occurred on other key corridors, including the Prithvi, Karnali, Mid-Hill and Kanti highways, where rising waters and debris have blocked normal movement. Further complications were reported along the Jomsom-Korala road section, where a flood washed away approximately 20 metres of the roadway at Chaile. Authorities have urged travelers to exercise caution and check updates before setting out while road clearance efforts remain underway.
