A dispute between municipal leadership and administrative staff has intensified in Sunsari following actions taken against a senior official. Mayor Ramesh Karki revoked the vehicle facility assigned to chief administrative officer Radhika Giri, citing a delayed return to the office following festival holidays. Furthermore, the mayor placed a padlock on the office door of Giri, citing a decision by the municipal executive body. According to municipal sources, the relationship between the mayor and the administrative officer deteriorated after spending initiated by the mayor began facing restrictions. With the federal ministry yet to return Giri from deputation, the mayor decided to push for her recall, alleging a lack of coordination from her side. Giri had assumed administrative responsibilities at the municipality earlier in the year.
