Apples cultivated in Jumla are reaching the doorsteps of residents in Syangja and surrounding areas. Previously, fruit grown in Jumla frequently went to waste because it could not reach markets. To counter this, a team led by the group head initiated efforts to promote domestic goods and expand market reach by delivering produce directly to consumers. The distribution process involves transporting the fruit from Jumla to Pokhara using trucks. From there, jeeps carry the apples into local settlements across Syangja, Tanahun, Lamjung, Parbat, and Palpa. Residents can select their fruit right at their doorsteps for 150 rupees per kilogram, resulting in daily sales of hundreds of boxes. Repeat orders are common as buyers frequently contact the sellers for more fruit after trying it once. The organic fruit is free from pesticides and artificial coloring, making it cheaper than other market alternatives and highly popular among households. This direct delivery system provides affordable fruit for buyers while giving farmers and traders direct cash income.
